Plushie Yeti!

Today I was bored out of my mind, and decided I wanted to make a plushie.
So after a few hours of cutting, sewing and a few details to top it off... I created my lil Yeti :D

And thus my little yeti was born! She's so cute and fluffy ....it was a mess to cut but that's ok, her eyes, nose and lil' flower are made from buttons, the mouth is black thread and the claws are pieces of felt. I will be selling plushies like this one to make some extra cash so if you would like a yeti or some other animal, etc email me at moniqueturchan@gmail.com and I can give you a quote based on what you would like done.

Custom made art by commission!

Hello all!
I hope you all had a nice 4th of July and a safe on at that.
Its been an interest few weeks, the week before the 4th an old friend of mine came up from Florida to visit, which it was super fun to see her and beable to hangout. It also made me think back to when I first met her along with my other old friends to still live in Ohio, it made me feel old lol. Saw the menner fireworks show, and I'm pretty sure the person lighting them off or however they do it now a days, was lighting it and watching it explode in the sky because it would be a few minutes til the next one would go off.

This past weekend, yesterday to be exact(Sunday) I got my wisdom teeth out, it wasn't too bad til they got to the 4th and final tooth. The doctor literally had to drill it out, so now I look like a chipmunk....hmmm...I should make a doodle of that to post on here lol I'm sore but thats the norm for getting teeth extracted.

Now the real reason I wanted to write this post about was opening commissions if you folks would like some original artwork,a handmade windchime, or some beautiful handmade jewelry.

I've already created five different windchimes all hand made out of scupley and painted with acrylic paint finished with a nice gloss finish to protect it from the elements. This is one of the windchimes, my mom commissioned me to make a few of them for her co-works. This is just one example and probably one of my favorite ones so far: a tiny red bird with its nest at the bottom with a baby bird inside eating a worm.

I've also created a handmade graduation card for my brother's friend, its the lineart drawing in the beginning of this post.

Recently I've been playing around with some wire and beads to create unique one of a kind jewelry, which I would also like to sell using paypal. Here are a few pictures of the jewelry, the image above is pre-finished jewelry, and the image below is the pendant set with matching earrings.

All of it is handmade by me, and if you do decided to place an order I will put a personalized thank you card ( also handmade) in the shippment as well.

Again if you would like a quote on something custom or similar to what is shown here drop me an email at : moniqueturchan@gmail.com with the subject entitle handmade jewelry, original art, or handmade windchimes.

This money will be going to help out my parents due to the economic stress put upon them, bills of my own (carpayment, doctors etc.) and future student loan payments so every little bit counts.

Thank you so much for reading and have a wonderful Monday morning!!!

Playing around in Photoshop

So I've been playing around in PS as of late to improve my digital sketching/rendering skills and to practice drawing noses. I have problems sometimes drawing noses...or at least other people's noses, its just one of those complex areas of the face where if you don't get it right it screws up the rest of the drawing. Anywho....back to the characters, I've been wanting to draw a tucan for sometime now and this was the result lol. I wanted to design the beak in a tattoo-ish style to make it look more interesting, add a quick splash of color and my happy lil' tucan comes to life.

MyDoIt character sheet

So today I decided I wanted to work on my character sheet for another project I'll be doing on the side. The story is about my younger brother Patrick, when he was little he use to ask my parents or my grandmother "My do it, my do it" instead of I do it. My grandmother wrote the story within the last couple years and asked me to illustrate it for her.

And thus the image to the above is a character sheet of a 2 year old Patrick. I wanted to do this style because I've actually used something similar for a coloring book I did and the kids just eat it up. I'll probably experiment with a few different mediums before going to final art with this.

Well thats about it, thanks for reading !

New project starting soon

Hi,
This is my first blog and I figure what better to start with than my new children's book project.
So its a very cute story called "There is a monster in my bed!" written by Pam Nunes, an artist/author from Maine. The both of us are very excited to start it, I'll be creating the illustrations for the project.
Anywho more information on this book when it comes closer to finishing it.

If your interested in having a children's book created, or just looking for an Illustrator to do something unique , I'm always looking for freelance. Check out my portfolio here http://moniqueturchan.carbonmade.com/
